There are two inventions that we as human beings have created to encourage and regulate our development;
|
socially: |
capitalism |
democracy |
|
individually: |
money |
votes |
|
function: |
benefit from our world and each other |
protect us and it from harm |
... we have come to a point where the majority of power is determined by how we spend our money, while those with the money are so separated from the reality of life they are "driving" an economy which harms the society.
The solution to this problem is to simply invoke a curve on elections, so that the poor have more of a vote and say in how we are governed, while continuing to provide all with access to a free market. This system could be put into place immediately with no changes whatsoever to our current political system. There are no "golden rules" of "utopia" here, but instead a gradual, controlled shift to a system where we exercise more control over our progress; where we aren't so alienated from our environment, each other, and ourselves. Hopefully, as we become better able to meet the needs of the poor by allowing them a fairer chance to be heard, then as a society we will want less and less to live the "good life" of luxury and privilege that is so resolutely promoted by the rich today.
Most of our lives are dominated by a right and a freedom; Capitalism: the right to spend our money however we choose, so that we can experience, appreciate, and learn from the outside world however we wish; and Democracy: the freedom to engage in a political system where each individual helps decide upon a just government to protect us and our environment. At the core of our beliefs is the idea that no one ought to tell us how we should spend or invest our money; and to live free from unjust harm or persecution. It is this ability to share the fruits of our labor, and to share opinions and beliefs; that has enabled us to grow and prosper throughout the ages. It is the goal of the FCP to find a fair and balanced way to share our wealth and power so that we can continue to enjoy life and learn.
So why, you ask is there so much suffering by both human and natural resources? That reason for this suffering is that we have come to a point where by spending money we often cause unjust harm to other people. In this information age there is very little information indeed available to the consumer. We are still firmly grounded in the petroleum age; where more and more of the merchandise that we find on the store shelf originates far far away with someone else working a long, dangerous, humiliating, and unsustainable job. As bankers and speculators make use of the latest technology to scour the earth in search of negligent governments, the information about the real costs involved are hidden and harnessed against us. The FCP wishes to correct this imbalance by instead using the information and computer technology to scale votes and establish social justice and equity.
People with wealth are the ones most able to fully experience the outside environment; and as they do, they formulate opinions based on their experience. They are also the ones, by driving the economy, to decide the direction in which we produce goods from our resources. But as our production changes the environment more and more to fit the ideals of the rich, it also becomes separated from its origins and more and more wealth driven and unnatural. Since our experiences also become separated from the real world, we become even less competent to decide the fate of our production.
Our wealth-production cycle is rapidly changing both us and the outside world. In response to an unnatural attack on our natural environment, we have been coerced into competing and relying on inefficient governmental institutions to regulate the course of production. This dream has clouded our eyes for a long time; and like a disease we have ravaged the resources of our planet, both natural and human. Since this is the problem, then the solution is as simple as limiting the voting power of the rich and increasing the voting power of the poor; giving those with practical and common sense knowledge the control over production - while continuing to permit everyone an equal chance to experience whatever is being produced. An arc would be the best solution, so that, each individual is equal distance to the unnatural no-experiences, no-control, situation » (0,0) prevalent on much of our planet today.
The FCP is about balancing and maintaining capitalistic and democratic principles. Both the competitive drive of a free market, and the pursuit of freedom through the electoral process are valued, conserved, and encouraged! The rich will have to ensure that the poor are happy being poor, for if the poor are not happy they will surely vote for someone willing to take reckless actions like redistributing the wealth. At the same time, the poor must find a way to be satisfied without having to disown the rich of their property, because then they will simply be turning the tables on themselves and getting nowhere. For the Fair Choice to succeed we must find a way to permit everyone, rich and poor, to live their lives with dignity, joy, and security - instead of just oppressing. And if the Fair Choice does work then it only makes sense to encourage other poor governments from elsewhere to join so that it's possible to share their wisdom! The poor people would, hopefully, encourage a system which demonstrates how to have more with less, not live separated from reality; and not depend on endless destructive pursuits of insulation, tyranny, and "disposable" income.
